If you've ever been stuck indoors on a rainy day with a bored cat, you know how important it is to have a few tricks up your sleeve to keep them entertained. Here are a few of our favorites:
This one is a classic for a reason - it's simple, cheap, and most cats love it. All you need is a piece of string or yarn, and you're good to go. Just be sure to keep an eye on your cat while they're playing, as they can sometimes get a little too enthusiastic and end up swallowing the string.
Cats love boxes. It's a fact of life. So if you've got a spare cardboard box lying around, put it to good use and give your cat their own personal playhouse. You can even cut some holes in the sides for them to jump in and out of.
Another simple one, but a lot of cats go crazy for a paper bag. Just put it on the floor and let them have at it. Some cats even like to hide inside the bag and pop their head out every now and then to surprise you.
If you want to really drive your cat wild, give them a catnip mouse to play with. Catnip is a natural herb that has a stimulant effect on cats, and most of them love it. Just be warned, it can sometimes make them a little crazy!
If your cat likes to scratch furniture, redirect that behavior to a scratching post. It's much better for your furniture, and it'll keep your cat happy and occupied. Just make sure the post is tall enough for them to really stretch their muscles, and be sure to put it in a place where they like to scratch.
With a little creativity, you can keep your cat entertained for hours - even on the rainiest of days.
